Majorca is one of the best locations for cycling in Europe due to its varied terrain, well maintained roads and respectful motorists. As you can see from the satellite photo the northern part of this island has a large mountain range. There are some superb climbs of varying length to suit all fitness levels. Lots of cycling teams train here and there is a busy cycling culture for lots of the season. Team Sky are here for a whole month in the off season and you often see famous names out on the road.

The mountains/climbs
Puig Major
Length : 13.6km
Average gradient : six per cent
The ride : Part of the MA10 road that crosses the island, Puig major is the longest climb on Majorca.
Sa colobra
Length : 9.6km
Average gradient : 7%
The ride : One of the most amazing climbs and pretty much unique in that you are forced to descend it before you come back up as there are no other routes that lead to it.
Coll d’Orient
Length : 5.3
Average gradient : 5.1
The ride : A medium length cat 3 climb with a good road surface.
Coll de Femenia
Length : 7.5km
Average gradient : 5%
The ride : The approach road has been recently re surfaced and is amazing now compared to previous years. This is a steady climb wich makes an amazing fast descent due to its superb surface and sweeping bends.
Coll d’Honor
Length : 4.7km
Average gradient : 6
The ride : The harder climb out of the orient valley but still not overly long. Save some energy for the final 1km which ramps up slightly.
Coll de Soller
Length : 7.3km
Average gradient : 6%
The ride : Beautiful cat 3 climb consisting of a ton of hairpins. Always very quiet with a fairly even gradient.
Coll de sa Batalla
Length : 7.8km
Average gradient : 5%
The ride A longer cat 2 climb that is very scenic. Has a great cafe at the top that is almost always full of cyclists.
